The idea for the Jazz Club began back in October of 2016 - the brainchild of Henry van Brussel. He initially wrote to some people he thought would be interested in supporting the idea of bringing affordable quality jazz performances to the local community. 

Below you can read excerpts from his letter and additional information about the club:  the Nipissing-Parry Sound Music & Jazz Corporation as it is now named since incorporation.

"We have been thinking for a while to start a Jazz Club here in North Bay. This inspiration comes from the jazz nights with Trio Jazz plus Garry White and the beautiful music they make and the guests that perform with the Trio.

The purpose would be to offer Jazz and Blues to our members."

"Jazz would include New Orleans Jazz, Blues, first half of the 20th century, the Swing Era and Bebop. Some crossovers, for example Ron Nigrini and Jake Thomas Duo. The purpose of such a club is to promote the activity in the community and make it affordable to local residents."

Since that time the Club has been incorporated as a Not-for-Profit Corporation, covering the geographic areas of Parry Sound and Nipissing districts.

The venue is the West Ferris Legion, Legion Drive, just off Lamorie St., near the Lakeshore Drive / Pinewood Park exit (338) off Hwy 11 (see map) and performances run from 7-9:30 pm, currently on the first Tuesday of the month. Check out the EVENTS list for dates and details of the performances.

BECOME A SUPPORTING MEMBER!

Supporting Membership is $50.00/year

Cover charge for performances is $15 members, and $20 non members.

​

We keep striving to make membership affordable, and as a result have changed our membership designation to that of SUPPORTING MEMBER,

with no initiation fees. As a supporting member, you help the Club continue to offer excellent and affordable performances.

Dues are $50 per year, renewed annually on your membership date.

 

By becoming a Supporting Member for the year's rate of $50, you are entitled to a saving of $5 per concert.

GROUP MEMBERSHIP

As well as redefining regular membership we have also officially approved a group membership.

This is for existing groups/organizations, not newly formed groups.

The group size must be over 10, because the group would have to sign up at least 10 of their members.

Those Supporting Group Members would pay $30 each per year, for a group total of $300, minimum, however no limit to the size of the group.

As Supporting Group Members, they would have the same advantage as regular Supporting Members of saving $5 per concert.

 

BRING A FRIEND- HELP BUILD OUR MEMBERSHIP !

Supporting Members may bring along a friend or future supporter for the reduced attendance fee.

 

We are looking to build a total of 125 supporting members, giving us more opportunities to present more concerts and greater variety.
