SOUNDS ASPIRING

As stated in the Charter of the Nipissing Parry Sound Music & Jazz Corporation, our aim is to promote local musicians from the Nipissing and Parry Sound area.

In order to support that goal, we have created a new program called Sounds Aspiring to allow people from the area who have achieved a considerable amount of fluency as musicians or vocalists to present themselves in a concert environment.

~ WHO CAN BECOME INVOLVED? ~

The program would include, but is not limited to:

1.  Hobbyists at a relatively high level who would enjoy the chance to perform with a professional trio;

2.  Students who are involved in private study or a school music program;

3.  Individuals in the community with past experience who wish to remain active in music.

~ HOW WILL THE PROGRAM BE RUN? ~

The Jazz Club ("Jazz at the Junction") wants to maintain a high standard, with a focus on styles within the Jazz genre.  We will supply a rhythm section to back up the aspiring musicians at our venue, the West Ferris Legion, with Club members and the public invited. The presentations may take the form of a showcase of several aspiring musicians, or individuals may play a set in a concert that would feature two or three sets.  It will depend on the goals of the presenters and their musical background. The program will be facilitated by our Music Director, Mike Landoni, who will respond to inquiries, hold auditions if required, provide mentoring and coordinate between the professional trio and the aspiring musicians.
